A couple, a child, a new city and a mountain of unanswered questions.
The call that changed everything
It was a Tuesday in October. We received news that we were moving to Madrid. We had four weeks. We knew no one. We didn't know the neighbourhoods, the schools, the bureaucracy… nothing. Just the name of a city.
The first weeks: beautiful and overwhelming
Madrid seduced us immediately. The light, the energy, the people. But underneath that magic, reality hit hard: finding a flat as newcomers without references, enrolling our son in a school mid-term, getting a NIE, opening a bank account… Each step felt like a dead end.
The question that started it all
One evening, exhausted after another frustrating day of searching, we asked ourselves: "Why doesn't a place exist where all this information is gathered in a human, practical and honest way?" The answer was simple. It didn't exist. So we decided to build it.
Home Madrid is born
Today, a few years later and completely in love with this city, we've created the guide we wish had existed when we arrived. Real information, from real experience, for real people who arrive in Madrid wanting to build their life here — just like we did.
